Completion of the Cost-Benefits Analysis (CBA) Expert Guide for StartGreen Project
The Cost-Benefits Analysis (CBA) Expert Guide developed within the “StartGreen” EU Erasmus+ project has been finalised and will soon be available in several languages (English, Greek, Bulgarian and Slovenian) on our project website. This guide is a milestone in our mission to support start-ups, micro-businesses, and self-enterprises in their journey towards a sustainable and green transition.
Purpose of the CBA Expert Guide
The primary objective of the guide was to provide essential data and business analysis related to the transition to a circular economy, specifically tailored for micro-business, start-ups and self-enterprises. The systematic approach outlined in the CBA will enable businesses to assess the potential costs and benefits of green investments or sustainable decisions that are about to be implemented.
Key Features of the CBA Expert Guide
The CBA Expert Guide enables business owners to make informed decisions by comparing expected costs with expected benefits. This comparison helps to determine the economic viability of proposed green solutions and their potential environmental impact. By identifying and analysing the costs associated with the green transition, including average upfront (capital expenses) and ongoing (operational expenses) at EU level, businesses can better navigate their sustainability journey.
Focus areas
The guide is structured around three main areas:
- Energy Management Systems (EMS): EMS refers to a system of computer-aided tools used by operators of electric utility grids to monitor, control and optimise the performance of the generation and/or transmission system. The implementation of EMSs can significantly improve energy efficiency and sustainability within businesses.
- Green Services: These services include various professional, technical and support activities aimed at improving environmental sustainability, reducing environmental impacts and promoting eco-friendly practices. Green services help businesses, organisations and individuals to achieve environmental goals and comply with regulations.
- Green Workplace Solutions: These solutions include policies, practices and technologies implemented in the workplace to improve environmental sustainability, reduce resource consumption and minimise environmental impact. These include energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation and sustainable practices.

The next stages of the project include the development of an interactive platform in which the gamified educational materials will develop knowledge, skills and competences of youth workers dealing with young people from vulnerable backgrounds and to the Youngsters itself about the 17 SDGs. The platform will be tested by selected youth workers and vulnerable youths before it will be finalized.
