Project Description

eHealth4Seniors is an Erasmus+ project designed to enhance the digital health literacy of adults aged 55 and over, with a strong focus on seniors living in rural or remote areas who often face greater barriers to digital inclusion. As healthcare services increasingly move online, many older adults lack the skills and confidence needed to use telemedicine, digital health platforms, and mobile health applications. The project addresses this gap by supporting seniors in developing practical eHealth skills that enable safer, more informed, and more independent management of their health and well-being.

To achieve this, the project develops a twofold eHealth Literacy Toolkit, consisting of accessible learning modules for seniors and structured pedagogical guidance for adult educators. These resources are tested and refined through community workshops and training activities, ensuring they are relevant, user-friendly, and inclusive. By empowering both older learners and educators, eHealth4Seniors promotes active ageing, lifelong learning, and social inclusion, while contributing to more equitable access to digital healthcare services across Europe.

Impact

The eHealth4Seniors project has a strong social, educational, and health-related impact by empowering older adults, especially those living in rural areas, to confidently and safely use digital health services. By improving seniors’ digital health literacy, the project helps reduce digital exclusion, supports independent living, and encourages more active participation in managing personal health and well-being.

Also, the project strengthens the capacity of adult educators by providing them with practical tools, structured methodologies, and training resources to teach eHealth skills effectively. Its accessible and transferable results contribute to more inclusive adult education practices, increased awareness of digital healthcare, and more equitable access to health services, benefiting communities and healthcare systems in the long term.
