Project Description

PATS project responds to the growing need to engage young people in environmental and social action through creative, participatory approaches. It empowers young artists and youth workers to use performance art as a tool for activism, awareness-raising, and community dialogue, while strengthening collaboration between youth organisations, municipalities, and cultural institutions.

The project will involve at least 75 young artists and youth professionals and 25 youth NGOs across five countries through a combination of learning, artistic production, and public engagement.

Key activities include:

-an online educational platform with training resources and best practices for advocacy through performance art;

-a structured Art Performance Course combining theory and practice;-

-a Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA) for young artists and youth workers;

-25 public performances and exhibitions promoting social and environmental debate;

-a documentary series capturing the impact of participating artists.

The methodology is based on experiential learning, artistic co-creation, and peer exchange, enabling participants to develop advocacy skills and creative confidence while expanding their networks and audiences.

Expected results include improved competences in performance activism, increased visibility of youth-led environmental messages, and stronger cooperation among participating organisations. In the long term, the project will reinforce youth participation in civic life, establish sustainable cross-sector partnerships, and promote art as an accessible and powerful medium for social change across Europe.

Impact

The PATS project is expected to generate long-term impact by strengthening the capacity of young artists, youth workers, partner organisations, and local communities to use performance art as a tool for social and environmental engagement. For young artists and professionals, the project will lead to more performances, advocacy collaborations, and follow-up initiatives, alongside documented improvement in both technical and soft skills and continued participation in European initiatives. Youth workers and organisations will expand their engagement methods by adopting PATS techniques into their programmes, strengthening their ability to reach diverse audiences. At community level, the project will encourage wider use of performance art as a civic participation tool and stimulate new local actions influenced by the project’s activities. Impact will be continuously monitored through structured feedback from audiences, surveys and assessment grids, and digital analytics from websites and social media, ensuring evidence-based evaluation of both immediate and sustained outcomes.
