Launch of the project
In today’s society, the social inclusion of young minorities is an important and timely issue. Through innovative approaches and technological tools, solutions are being sought to promote the active participation and social integration of young people, especially vulnerable groups.
The EmpowerSDGs project addresses this challenge by exploring the role of gaming and gamification techniques as a means to promote awareness of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the social inclusion of young minorities. Through dialogue and interaction, it explores ways to achieve the 17 SDGs by 2030, with a focus on educating, informing and empowering young people.
In the first months of project implementation, project partners from Greece, Turkey, Serbia and Spain conducted research to identify good practices that combine SDG awareness and education of youth (especially vulnerable groups) in a playful way. The aim is to document nearly 40 good practices, which will be integrated into the virtual map on our project website. The research findings will help to create a training programme for youth workers, to support them in their work with young people.
The first EmpowerSDGs meeting took place on 21-22 February in Madrid, Spain, where the partners outlined the action plan for the first months of the project, presented the work plans of the project activities, discussed the distribution of tasks and the effective dissemination of our project.
The next stages of the project include the development of an interactive platform in which the gamified educational materials will develop knowledge, skills and competences of youth workers dealing with young people from vulnerable backgrounds and to the Youngsters itself about the 17 SDGs. The platform will be tested by selected youth workers and vulnerable youths before it will be finalized.
