Launching "ConnectED: Closing the Digital Gap"
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new project, “ConnectED: Closing the Digital Gap”, an initiative designed to address the pressing issue of digital inequality. This project focuses on empowering marginalized groups—including the long-term unemployed, NEETs (young people Not in Education, Employment, or Training), migrants, and women in rural areas—by enhancing their digital skills. By doing so, we aim to boost their employability and foster greater social inclusion.
In addition to supporting these groups, ConnectED will equip VET (Vocational Education and Training) trainers with innovative tools to teach digital skills through real-life applications. This dual focus not only empowers disadvantaged learners but also ensures that VET trainers are digitally literate and better equipped to meet the needs of today’s learners.
ConnectED aligns with the EU’s Digital Education Action Plan, a framework that seeks to promote digital literacy and inclusion across Europe. By bridging the digital divide, the project plays a key role in creating a more inclusive society while contributing to the economic development of marginalized communities.
The Kick-Off Meeting
The journey of ConnectED began with a successful kick-off meeting hosted by GRI in Valladolid, Spain, on 26-27 November 2024. Partners from Spain, Greece, Cyprus, and Italy came together to discuss the project’s milestones and brainstorm solutions to potential challenges in the months ahead.
During this meeting, the partners laid the groundwork for creating high-quality training resources and strategies to ensure that the project achieves its ambitious goals. Collaboration and shared commitment were key themes of the discussions, reflecting the strong partnership driving this initiative.
Upcoming Results
ConnectED represents a significant step toward reducing digital inequality and creating opportunities for those who need them most. The main results of the project will be:
- WP2 – Digital Skills Proficiency Toolkit: Training materials + Curriculum (in 3 proficiency levels) for VET trainers
- WP3 – The Digital Skills Hub – Online platform
- WP4 – Course (300 hours) to fight against digital gap in marginalised communities to enhance their employability
Stay tuned for updates on ConnectED as we continue to work toward closing the digital gap!
