Project Description
The current global situation, characterised by slow economic growth, social inequalities and environmental degradation, poses unprecedented challenges. The EU is fully committed to achieving the goals set out in the 2030 Agenda, as detailed in the document “Towards a Europe for 2030”. Moreover, young people are increasingly expressing their desire to play a more active role in social and political affairs in Europe, as evidenced by movements such as Greta Thunberg’s Climate Change Initiative in 2019. Despite these positive steps, there is still much to be done and it’s important to inform and involve young people in these goals. The EmpowerSDGs project was developed not only to address these goals, but also to provide young people, especially young minorities, with a broad knowledge of global challenges and the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) through the use of video games and gamification techniques. In this way, they can be well informed about the SDGs and become active citizens who can help with many different aspects of sustainable development.

Impact
The project seeks to facilitate vibrant dialogue and engagement among its partners and European youth, particularly those facing vulnerabilities, to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the 2030 Agenda at local, national, and international levels. It also endeavors to empower youth workers to effectively support young people from vulnerable backgrounds and to educate both youth and youth workers about the 17 SDGs through innovative educational resources. Additionally, the project aims to design activities that actively encourage the participation of marginalized youth, nurturing their engagement and social consciousness to cultivate active and socially aware European citizens, employing innovative techniques to achieve these ends.
The Hive 's Role
The Hive plays a central role throughout the project’s lifespan, overseeing all activities from inception to completion. Specifically, it takes the lead in Activity 4, dedicated to crafting a youth-centric game aimed at raising awareness about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among minority youths aged 16-30 in an engaging manner. This game not only serves as an educational tool but also as an innovative resource for youth workers. Furthermore, The Hive assumes responsibility for Activity 6, focusing on Dissemination, Communication, and Sustainability strategies for the project. It provides guidance to the partners through strategic methodologies, templates, and promotional materials. Culminating the project, The Hive coordinates the Final Conference, where all developed materials are presented to stakeholders and target audiences.
