Project Description
Young people with learning differences, such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), and Executive Functioning Disorders, often face challenges in adapting to social and work environments, managing behavior, overcoming educational barriers, and addressing mental health concerns. To support their integration into society and improve their ability to interact and cooperate, targeted interventions are crucial. Research shows that sport-based interventions can effectively enhance their soft skills and overall psychosocial well-being, skills that are highly valued in the job market. The SISY project is designed to address these challenges by using sports to improve the soft skills of youth with learning differences. It also empowers youth workers with the knowledge and tools to incorporate sports into informal and non-formal education. By training youth workers, the project helps them support young people in developing essential skills like teamwork, communication, and resilience. Ultimately, the goal is to increase the employability of youth with learning differences, foster their active participation in society, and build a stronger sense of connection. The SISY project also establishes a pan-European network of youth workers to share knowledge and best practices, offers certifications to youth workers, and creates opportunities for youth to participate in sports tournaments and social events, where they can apply their skills in real-world contexts.

Impact
The SISY methodology expects to equip youth workers with the tools to integrate sports into education for youth with learning differences like ADHD, APD, and Executive Functioning Disorders, helping them develop essential soft skills for social and career growth. The project fosters collaboration among youth organizations through the SISY Community of Practice (CoP) and offers multilingual training, mentorship, and tailored sports tournaments. It enhances the capacity of participating organizations with innovative resources, improving their services. At local, regional, and national levels, SISY strengthens youth work practices, boosts employability, and promotes active citizenship. On a European level, it encourages cross-sectoral cooperation, supporting the employability of youth with learning differences across Europe.
The Hive 's Role
THE HIVE leads quality assurance and evaluation of the SISY project. They also lead the development of the second main project’s result, the SISY Collaborative Learning Hub. This Collaborative Learning Hub focuses on creating a digital platform for a Community of Practice of youth experts and organizations working with youth with learning differences in Europe. The platform will feature a MOOC to train professionals in using sports to enhance soft skills in youth (ages 15-24) with learning differences. Certified trainers will be matched with youth based on specific needs (ADHD, APD, Executive Functioning Disorders). THE HIVE will manage the SISY platform development and the certification & mentorship matching activity.
